Driving home in heavy winter traffic, this replaces the drive-time news with thoughts of HEAVY-SEXY. I'm all fingers and thumbs as I picture the riot-girl balaclava, pale slavic nudes and red velvet drapes, flapping in a post-nuclear breeze of sheer and utter end times. Favourite track: all of them at once! But hard to drink coffee to. Must maintain eyes on the road. x

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me. A must-have for any dark ambient fan's collection.

This, friends, is my only reported “favorite album of 2021.” This album- granted, an anthology- has so many textures. I noted in a 3-track ‘spanse being reminded of Four Tet (albeit beatless), Trepaningritualen (plus harmonica), and Acid Mothers Temple (sans guitar). The Sonologyst is a curatorial genius. Creativity rules this world.
